New Bern, North Carolina bright cut serving spoon, circa 1800, marked “Woods” for Freeman Woods who was born in 1766.  Woods is one of North Carolina’s earliest silversmiths.  His name appears in the New York City directories from 1791 to 1794.  In December 27, 1794, he advertised in New Bern, N.C.  He continued to work in New Bern until 1834 when he died.  Monogram is probably “LAH.”  Condition is good with some wear and dents to bowl.  Length is 8⅜ inches.
