$1,800

Louisville, Kentucky coin silver ladle, circa 1830 to 1831, is marked “Harris.Lemon.”  According to Marquis Boulting house in his book Silversmiths of Kentucky, 1785-1900,

John C. Harris formed a partnership with James I. Lemon under the firm name Harris & Lemon in 1830.  This partnership was short-lived for the Louisville Daily Focus announced “the partnership of John C. Harris and James I. Lemon was dissolved November 2, 1831.”

The ladle has an “H” monogram appropriate for the period of 1830.  It measures 12¾ inches in length.  Condition is excellent with very minor scratches.
